きょうは９月２７日木曜日。このエントリもずいぶん書いてなかったなあ。
そういえば、『黄金の鯱』の英訳作業。今年の２月１４日には、英文下訳が完了していました。それを書くのをすっかり忘れていた（笑）
というのも、下訳が完了したら、なんとなく溜っていた“疲労感”からすこし解放さされたくて、精査を含めた翻訳完成作業への着手が、手つかずのままいました。半途以上の長いブランク。
きょうから、英語表現の彫琢（主語や時制のチェック、“意訳”含む言い換えの試み、類語使用による表現の比較など）や固有名詞の英語表記の統一などなど、英文翻訳の完成作業に取り組みみ始めました。
年内に完成すればいいけど、文芸創作や自作品の出版など、ほかにもあれこれやっているので、あくまで希望です（笑）
そうそう、紙の本（ペーパーバック）の出版も、本腰で取り組まなくては。あと、DTMもまだ取り組めていない。
でも、やっと酷暑の時期がすぎたので、いよいよ、これまで以上に本腰入れて、この４分野（文芸創作(小説主体)・電子出版/紙の本出版・英訳/エスペラント訳・作曲/DTM）に、この優先順位で取り組んでいきます。
それから、『第２回My最北旅行』のブログ版も作らなくては。どれもこれも、がんばるぞ！

きょうは１月２３日月曜日。きょうもぱっとしない空だなあ。でも、仕事のほうはちょびっと前進したよ。短編歴史小説の第１次英訳が終了。短編だからすぐに終わるかな？と思って取りかかったけれど、昔の言葉遣いや方言。それに、日本の伝統的な事物をふんだんに書き込んでいるので、「google翻訳」と「Bing」を駆使した第１次英訳作業（いわゆる下訳）であるにもかかわらず、けっこう“難産”でした。
でも、ついさきほどどうにか終わることができました。あとは、この下訳をもとに、推敲と同じ感覚で、何回かの重畳的 (superimposed)な磨きをかけてゆくことになります。仕上がるのはこの夏かな。秋までにはAmazon.com(USA)で、英語版の電子書籍として出版するしたいな…と思っています。
なお、自分のオリジナル文芸作品の英訳版は、これを機に順次Amazon.com(USA)から出しゆく予定。できれば、ペーパーバックに取り組みたいと思っています。さて、ほかにもいろいろクリエイティブ・ワークをやっているので、けっこうたいへん（＾＾） さ、きょうも明日も、がんばるぞ！

In addition, I plan to take this opportunity to release English translations of my original literary works from Amazon.com (USA) on this occasion. If possible, I would like to work on paperbacks. Well, I'm doing a lot of other creative work, so it's pretty hard (^^) I'll do my best today and tomorrow!

きょうはすごく早く起きたので、翻訳をやってみた。静かだし、PCモニタに集中できるし、なによりも頭がスッキリしている。翻訳作業にはもってこいだ。
ということで、以前から進めている『黄金の鯱』の英訳作業に取り組んだ。すでに、あと８パラグラフを残すだけになっていて、この翻訳が終われば、一次翻訳が完了したことになる。
そのあとは、最適な訳を求めて、全体にわたって何度も隈なく点検することになる。つまり、英訳文の推敲作業が待っている。でも、暇暇に取り組んでいる情況なので、一次翻訳が完了するのはたぶん年明けになるだろう。
なので、英訳本として仕上がるのは早くても来年の春になるだろうか…。完成すれば２つ目の英訳本ということになる。Amazon.com(USA)から電子書籍として出版する予定だけれど、可能ならペーパーバックも出してみたい。

翻訳をしたのは何日ぶりだろう。ほんと、久しぶりに『黄金の鯱』の英訳をしました。このところずっと、目の前の処理すべき案件があれこれと目白押しで、翻訳作業はそれらに押されて、出番のない日々が続いていました。
ところで、物語の英訳では、スラングまで知っていないと、なかなか正確な訳はできなくて、説明調のつまらない英訳になりがちです。ま、それは分かっていても、ドンピシャな俗語表現のスキルがないので、しかたなく、そう、仕方なく(I can't help it.)、味わいのない説明文になってしまいがち…。
それでも、この作品は短編なので、もう半分以上は英訳（ただし草稿）ができたかな。この調子で行けば、年明け早々にも草稿が完成するかもしれない。そうしたら、早ければ年前半には、Amazon.com(USA)から、英語版の『黄金の鯱』、"The Golden Orca"が電子書籍として出せそう。ペーパーバックも、出版手続きが面倒でなければ出してみたいですね。

現在英訳中の歴史奇譚タイプの短編小説『黄金の鯱』。英語名は"The Golden Orca"。電子書籍として出版済みの作品の一つです。
この作品の会話文には、旧い日本語の言い回しと方言的な語り口と俗語的雰囲気の粗い弁舌が入りまじった箇所がたくさん出てきますが、その箇所の機械翻訳は、google翻訳もMicrosoft Bingも、実上お手上げの状態です。

自分もせっかくノーミソもって生まれてきたわけだから、自作品英訳もgoogle翻訳先輩とBing兄さんに加勢してももらいながら、ブンブン丸で使いこなしながら突っ走っていきたいな…。ってことで、電子出版済みの３作も並行して英訳に着手してますよ。

いよいよ「
創作/英訳作業用コンテンツ分散型非公開３ブログ・プラットフォーム」、略して「三風呂」での英訳作業を始めました。まずは手始めに短編の歴史奇譚ものに着手。パラグラフ単位でランダムに抜き取って、google翻訳とBingにかけたところ、否定形的な表現の多い物語文は、どちらも“苦手”なもよう。

数理経済学の預かり原稿の英訳。いまは、「第２章 成長の条件 策１節 取込みエネルギーと総エネルギー」を英訳中です。
ちなみに、「第７章 ●●●モデルによる経済活動分析 第１節 エネルギーと通貨との関係」の本訳はじつに短期間で終わりました。というのも、この節は数式かったので、そのぶん英訳の手間が省けまたというわけです。
ちなみに、見た目複雑な数式は、ブログエントリでMathJaxで表示したものを画像ファイルとして取得し、ePub化を前提としたxhtmファイル内に、テキスト文字群とともに、この数式画像も貼り付けることにしています。
なので、翻訳が終わったあとは、テキスト文字と数式画像の位置の調整をおこなう必要があります。ということで、数式の多いページは、そのページ内のレイアウトまで終わって作業完了となりますので、翻訳はすんでも、編集作業としてはまだ半分も終わっていないことになります。

ところで、この種の英訳作業。最近思うようになったのは、自作品の多くで英訳版をだすつもりなら、いま書いている３作品はもちろん、構想中のものも含めて、最初から英文作品を主体に創作し出版するのがよいのではないか……。

「第９章 国際経済と為替レート」の「第１節 日本貿易黒字の構造」の仮翻訳が先ほど終了。これは、お硬い概念がずらっと並んでいたので骨が折れたけど、どうにかクリア。
ちなみに、「仮翻訳」というのは、全編にかけての１次翻訳が仕上がって、全体を通した翻訳チェックをするまでの情態を、ここではとりあえずそう呼ぶことにしています。
さて、つぎは「第７章 ●●●モデルによる経済活動分析 第１節 エネルギーと通貨との関係」（「●●●」は伏字）だな。なお、ネット上の翻訳サービスを下訳に使うときは、節単位であえて飛び飛びにやっています。日本語原文が１冊の本のテキストコンテンツとして、整然とした形でgoogleなりMicrosoftの巨大データベースに格納されるのは避けたいので＾＾；
ま、これは、自分の原稿であっても同じ。「じゃあ、１からコツコツと翻訳すればいいじゃん」 たしかにそうですが、google翻訳とBingを下訳で使って、それらを照合しながら「最適訳」を決めていったほうが圧倒的に「楽！」なので(^_^)、この味を占めたらもうこの“お二方”から離れられないです。
どちらも基本的に好きくない^^;GAFAMのメンバーだけど、ま、Amazonでの電子書籍とペーパーバックの出版と同じで、使えるものは使うという方針でいきます（笑;）

最近になって、和文英訳もわりあい頻繁に取り組むようになったよ。いま取り組んでいるのは、
ある方の預かり原稿である数理経済学書の和文英訳。
この手の原稿、数式はそのままでいいけれど、本文だけでなく、図表中の日本語も英語に変換しなくてはならないんだ。いまはまだ全体の２〜３割りていどかな。内容が硬いので、翻訳もなかなか先に進まないが、１３インチのマクブックンではなく、２０インチのアイマックンで翻訳作業をはじめたら、格段にスピードが上がったよ。
やはり、画面は広いほうがいいみたいだな。岩盤のように硬いコンテンツを処理するには、ちまちました窮屈なモニタ画面ではダメで、なるべくひろいほうが視野も広がったような気がするし、そのぶん気分的にも、余裕のある感じで作業に“立ち向かえる”感じがあるね。そんなわけで、デスクトップPCにも、自分にとっては充分存在意義があることがよくわかったよ。
ところで、現在取組中の翻訳作業が峠を越えたら、自作文芸作品の英訳に着手する予定でいるんだ。これらの英訳本は、Amazon.com(USA)で電子出版をする予定。で、もし可能なら、ペーパーバック出版も手がけてみたいな。

なんだか久しぶりな感じで 、仕事の一つ、和文英訳に集中してみた。AIを導入して驚異的に賢くなったgoogle翻訳に“下訳していただく^^”だけで、翻訳作業も格段に効率がよくなった。
そしてさらに、昨年秋に知ったBingによる翻訳も、クセのない日本文なら、 googleに負けずとも劣らないくらいのスマートな翻訳を返してくれる。
なので最近は、原文の日本語が筋道だった素直な文章であれば、これら二つに、パラグフごとかけて、照射の訳文を見比べながら、私の気にいった表現にまとめてゆく、という作業をするようになった。つまり、翻訳の監修にちかい立ち位置をとるようになった。
ということで、翻訳作業が楽になっただけでなく、スピードアップしながら、かつ、最終的な翻訳精度も以前よりあがったと思う。
ちなみに自分はGAFAMが嫌いで、警戒してSNSすら使わないでいるのに、このように翻訳サービスはどんどん使っている。はたしてそれでいいのか？と、心密かに自問する日々でもある（苦笑）
でも、翻訳は骨の折れる仕事なので、業務効率化の美名のもと、使い倒すくらい使い続けるだろう…これからも。なので、無給／無休で働いてくれる“ご両人”にも、いちおうThaks! (^_^)
ところで、雷風呂で日々試しているように、くだけた表現になると、どちらも参考ていどになる場合が多くなる。とくに、Bingは翻訳精度がおちる。
いっぽうgoogleの場合は、“適当に”端折ったり、言い換えたりするのがうまい。そんなとき、ハッとするような翻訳に出会うこともあり、そのたびに、「さすがAI、賢いな」と思うことがよくある。
ちなみに、Bingの「よさ」を挙げるとすれば、原文に忠実に翻訳しようとする“律儀な姿勢”にあると思う。なので、通常のクセのない文章であれば、むしろBing訳のほうが好ましい場合もある。
さて、一休みしたら、まだがんばるかな。グーちゃん、ビンちゃん、よろしくね（＾＾）
あ、それから、DeepLという優れもののAI翻訳もあるけれど、自分の愛用のブラウザと愛称がわるすぎるので、こちらの翻訳サービスは使っていない。あまりたくさん使ってもね（笑）
それに、ドイツの会社が開発元のようなので、たぶん、いちばん期待している物語の和文英訳は、得意じゃなさそうだし…。
ま、自作小説の英訳を本格的にはじめたら、いちおう試してみるけれど、いずれにしても、最後は自分自身の翻訳力が決め手だから、グーちゃん、ビンちゃんの下訳があれば充分かな…とは思っている。
